The 2nd Part of our Top 10 Las Vegas Hotel Chefs.
5) The Chef: Mario Batali
The Diggs:
B&B Ristorante (Venetian)
OTTO Enoteca Pizzeria (Venetian)
Carnevino Italian Steakhouse (Palazzo)
The Goods:
Foodies may know him for this collection of restaurants from Las Vegas to Singapore but much of his popularity was a result of his appearance on Iron Chef: America. Batali has launched a number of restaurants with business partner and MasterChef judge Joseph Bastianich . A recent court case regarding tip skimming had the two in the news for all the wrong reasons. Here’s hoping Batali and Co. are able to put the spotlight back on food in place of controversy.
4) The Chef: Gordon Ramsay
The Diggs:
Gordon Ramsay Steak (Paris Casino)
BurGR (Planet Hollywood)
Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill (Caesars Palace)
The Goods:
Ramsay may very well be making a play to dethrone Wolfgang as the culinary King of Vegas. We all know that he isn’t as mean as his reality-show tirades would suggest but there’s also no denying that the multi-Michelin Award winner is a man of limitless ego. Ramsay was even awarded the Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2006. Good to see some of the best hotels in Las Vegas get one of the world’s best chefs.
3) The Chef: Emeril Lagasse
The Diggs:
Table 10 (Palazzo)
Lagasse Stadium (Palazzo)
Delmonico Steakhouse (Venetian)
Emeril’s New Orleans Fish House (MGM Grand)
The Goods:
Lagasse the actor is kinda, well, meh. But Lagasse the master chef – BAM! Las Vegas seems to agree as Legasse has opened four restaurants in the city of Sin. The Palazzo seems especially fond of the Culinary Hall of Fame inductee, as it plays home to both Table 10 and Lagasse Stadium. We give Lagasse bonus points for being one of North America’s largest benefactors of the food porn revolution.
2) The Chef: Michael Mina
The Diggs:
American Fish (Aria)
Michael Mina (Bellagio)
Pub 1842 (MGM Grand)
Stripsteak (Mandalay Bay)
The Goods:
After meeting Andre Agassi, the Egyptian-born Mina teamed up with the tennis star to found The Mina Group. In October 2011 his San Francisco-based restaurant, Michael Mina, was named Esquire Magazine’s Restaurant of the Year. In addition to these and other accomplishments, including the launch of the Cook Taste Eat media company, Mina is one of the most dominant figures in the culinary world of Las Vegas.
1) The Chef: Wolfgang Puck
The Diggs:
Spago (Caesars Palace)
Cut (Palazzo)
Wolfgang Puck Pizzeria & Cucina (City Center – near Aria, Vdara and the Mandarin Oriental)
Postrio Bar & Grill (Venetian)
Trattoria del Lupo (Mandalay Bay)
Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill (MGM Grand)
The Goods:
Not very many people get to have an umbrella company with their name on it (i.e. Wolfgang Puck Worldwide Inc.) but that’s what happens when you’re good enough to open more than 20 restaurants in the United States. Five of those are located in some of the best hotels in Las Vegas – that’s more than any other chef in what is quickly becoming the culinary capitol of America.
