Nevada Looks to Ban Slot Machines Cheat

Exclusive clubs are a finicky thing.

There are those which we aspire to be part of and pursue through study, athletic achievement, developing a unique skill set or even updating our collection of fashionable blazers.

Then we have Roderick William Dee II.

Dee is being considered for membership to an exclusive club for his own particular set of skills, which include rigging jackpots and changing payouts on casino slot machines.

Last Thursday the Nevada State Gaming Control Board Gaming Commission nominated Dee for inclusion on the Nevada Excluded Person List. It marks the first time in nearly four years that a name has been considered for the list, which currently has a head count of 33.

If added to the list, Dee will be forbidden from entering any and all Nevada-based casinos. According to Deputy Attorney General Edward Magaw, Dee has racked up four felony convictions, three of which were in Las Vegas. In each case Dee used a “kickstand”– a device used for triggering unwarranted jackpots.

Not exactly unknown to casino operators, Dee has outstanding arrest warrants in California and Indiana for rigging slot machines in those states. If added to Nevada’s “Black Book”, it will be the second state where Dee has been placed on such a list, with Missouri being the first.

The hearing is expected to take place in about two months, at which time Dee has the right to contest his inclusion on the list. It may be that this is one club that he would rather not be part of.

What do you think of Dee’s case? Tell us in the comments section below?
