Overview:

At the end of the 20-mile drive from Sin City to Lake Las Vegas, the beautiful yet artificial body of water springs out of the Mojave Desert like an Arabian oasis. Given the resemblance, it seems only fitting that the Westin Lake Las Vegas is inspired by the warm colors of southern Morocco.

Located right on the Lake, the Westin has a beautiful, orange-hued exterior that reminds arriving guests of Marrakech. The Moroccan theme continues in the lobby but is, disappointingly, barely evident in the hotel rooms, which are affordable but blandly-decorated.

Thankfully, the Westin does have some other North African-inspired elements, such as The Arabesque Lounge bar and Rick’s Café’s, a restaurant inspired by the movie Casablanca and the cuisine of the city in which it was set. Guests who aren’t big fans of Moroccan food will be pleased to discover that it’s not the only option on offer. There’s also Marssa, which specializes in East Asian delicacies, as well as a sushi bar.

While guests are reasonably well-served by the Westin’s restaurants, they’ll likely be disappointed after their meals by the lack of live entertainment. Without even a casino, the resort doesn’t offer guests enough nightlife to stop them leaving the hotel for the bright lights of Vegas. They’ll  probably stick closer to the resort in the mornings and afternoons, however, because the Westin boasts an impressive range of daytime activities, including an 18-hole golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus, a spa, and kayaking and fly-fishing on the Lake.

While the Westin is one of the more impressive accommodation options on Lake Las Vegas, like its neighbors the resort may be too quiet for some guests and lack the entertainment and gambling facilities that are commonplace on the Strip.
