Hotel Guide
255 East Flamingo Rd.
Location: Off the Strip
What makes it Special? Every suite measures an above-average 650 square feet. We think it’s their way of apologizing to those hopeful of being magically transported to Florence upon arrival.
Entertainment Attraction: There’s a comedian by the name of Joe Lowers who performs here three nights a week. We’re not sure how Joe summons the capacity to keep it fresh, but we commend him on his craft.
Number of Rooms: 716
Overview:
The Tuscany Suites and Casino is the self-proclaimed ‘Best Kept Secret in Las Vegas’ – thing is that they may actually be right. We gave this a lot of thought and the Tuscany Suites is definitely at the top of the heap for second-tier Vegas hotels. By our measure, it’s actually not too far from the first tier.
The Tuscany went with a unique, arguably risky, layout that makes you think of the 1980 film The Blue Lagoon. That probably wasn’t the intent but what can we say – we’re nostalgic. It turns out that a series of curvy pathways, featuring lagoon-style pools and fountains, was the perfect alternative to some of the other grandiose hotel venues. Those other places are great in their own right, but sometimes you need something a touch mellower.
Now that we’ve spent the majority of our time gushing/reminiscing, here are some core strengths.
These overviews often highlight meeting and convention spaces. And the Tuscany has 37,000 square feet for this purpose – that’s about four times as much as the Trump International. When it comes to dining, the Tuscany has four offerings that vary in style and the size of appetite. At the top of their list is Tuscany Gardens, which was an ‘Opentable.com Diners’ Choice Winner’ for 2013. There is also a spa, fitness center and one of the nicest off-Strip wedding chapels in Vegas. What this all adds up to is a hotel experience that is truly, for lack of a better word – bellisimo.
