Hotel Guide
Location: 301 Fremont Street (Downtown)
What makes it Special? We were going to say stylish rooms, but that was before we saw a picture of their armored truck limo. You heard right: Armored. Truck. Limo.
Entertainment Attraction: While The D may have the Fremont Experience right outside, they can also lay claim to a few of their own acts, including The Scintas, a family-oriented entertainment troupe.
Number of Rooms: 638
Overview:
A hotel needs to be equal parts confident and self-flagellating to call itself “The D Las Vegas”. Think of all the words that start with ‘D’: dump, disgusting, disappointing and disaster. They’re probably banking on more positive adjectives like delightful, dazzling, debonair and…oh right, dancing dealers.
It turns out that there really are dancing dealers at the table games. Fortunately, the casino also has its own Players’ Club and a William Hill Sports Book, proof that they’re willing to diversify their portfolio.
When it comes to dining you can go classy with the Andiamo Steakhouse or you can opt for our personal favorite – American Coney Island. This dilemma will force you to tackle life’s most vital of questions: Char-broiled 24-ounce house-cut Porterhouse or Dearborn Sausage with Coney Island Chili Sauce?
We already mentioned The Scintas, comprised of two brothers, one sister and another ‘adopted’ brother. Adam Landon brings with his own brand of magic and humor, which seems to involve a lot of ducks. No jokes here – we like ducks and applaud Adam incorporating them into his act. Finally, we have Marriage Can be Murder, which was voted “Best Dinner Show” by Best of Las Vegas for 2013.
There just isn’t enough room here to thoroughly review the D nightlife or Bachelor/Bachelorette parties. What we can say is that there are three bars where you can let loose: The D Bar, Vue Bar and Longbar.
The D may be a bit pricier for downtown but remember those three words: Armored. Truck. Limo.
