Overview:
The hotel now owned by the Hooter’s restaurant chain, which is famous (or infamous, depending on your standpoint) for its buxom waitresses wearing revealing tank-tops emblazoned with the Hooters’ owl logo, has had numerous name changes since it was first built in 1973. The Paradise and The Treasury were among the hotel’s names before Hooters acquired the property in 2006. Much renovation and red-blooded re-branding followed to transform the resort into the Hooters Casino Hotel.
The centerpiece of the property is its Hooters restaurant, which is the second-largest branch in the world. Apart from its size, the diner is no different to Hooters restaurants the world over: chicken wings, hamburgers and other fast food served by Hooters Girls. These waitresses are also employed in the hotel’s in-house casino, which offers guests a reasonably large selection of gambling options, including 385 slots and 25 table games.
Fortunately, for feminists and fans of aesthetic variety, not every aspect of the hotel is Hooters-themed. There’s one – though only one – affordable fine-dining restaurant called the Mad Onion, while the sports bar Pete & Shorty’s has waiters and waitresses rather than Hooters Girls. The resort’s top entertainment attractions are also a Hooters-free zone: neither the Prince musical tribute Purple Reign nor the Kevin Lepine Hypnosis Unleashed show is headlined by a Hooters Girl in drag.
Rooms in the Hooters Casino Hotel are affordable if blandly-decorated – no, there’re no framed photos of Hooters Girls on the walls – though they are bright and spacious, and some of them offer views of the Strip.
Your appreciation of this resort is going to depend on your view of Hooters restaurants. If you’re a fan, you’ll be owl-eyed with pleasure staying here. Those who consider the diners tacky and sexist should look elsewhere.
