Overview:
Hip, hip Harrah? In fact, Hararh’s Las Vegas takes its name not from an expression of jubilation but from William F. Harrah, the Reno-born casino developer who founded the company that became Caesars Entertainment Corporation. Nonetheless, expressions of joy are far from unknown in this resort’s Carnaval Court, an open-air street party that reminds revelers more of Rio than Vegas.
The al fresco nightclub isn’t the only entertainment option offered at Harrah’s, which also features country music venue Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill and Tony-award winning musical Million Dollar Quartet, which pays tribute to the rock ‘n’ roll era of Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash.
Before or after the show, guests can dine at one of the Hurrah’s range of restaurants. Casual options include KGB, which specializes in gourmet American diner favourites rather than Russian, as well as an oyster bar and a relaxed Chinese place. However, those interested in upscale dining should be warned that Harrah’s only boasts one choice, Ruth’s Chris Steak House.
Like its restaurants, Harrah’s casino is dependable – boasting a diverse selection of slots and table games as well as a keno parlor and sports book – but doesn’t offer gamers anything special. The same is also true of the resort’s affordable but nondescript rooms. It’s a shame that Carnaval Court’s Brazilian theme hasn’t influenced the suites’ decoration.
Outside its al fresco nighclub, guests at the Harrah will probably not be jumping for joy, though the resort remains a decent midrange option.
