Overview:
The Fiesta Henderson Hotel is, as its name suggests, located in the city of Henderson rather than Las Vegas proper. It can take 30 minutes or more to drive to downtown Vegas or the Strip, so they had better be hosting one hell of a party –or fiesta, as this Mexican-themed resort prefers to call it – to make a stay here worth your while.
So is the Fiesta Henderson worth it? Well, the tastefully-decorated rooms, which manage to subtly remind guests of south of the Rio Grande, are remarkably affordable. It would be impossible to find accommodations of a similar standard for the same price in downtown Vegas or on the Strip.
And you don’t have to stage your own personal fiesta in your room, as the resort offers guests more than enough attractions. Party central for grabbing a decent margarita or a Corona is the Cerveza Cantina, a bar that also serves an impressive range of Mexican appetizers. An even wilder fiesta can be found in the resort’s live music venue, the Coco Lounge, which hosts a constantly changing lineup of bands, including the Beatles tribute group The Threedles (who stop short of translating the Fab Fours’ tunes into Spanish to maintain the hotel’s theme).
Life can’t be a fiesta all of the time, so for those hours guests want to spend alcohol-free, the hotel has the 12-screen Regal Cinemas. Alternatively, you can go gamble in the Fiesta’s casino, which offers a gaming space comparable to resorts on the Strip. Over 1,600 slots, 18 table games and a race and sports book compete for your attention – and your cash!
So is the Fiesta Henderson’s hotel and casino a winning combination of partying, entertainment and gambling? It’s certainly good value and you won’t be bored, though the problem of location remains – if you’re planning to spend any time in Vegas, your fiesta may be ruined by the traffic.
