Entertainment Attraction: Constantly changing roster of b-list performers at the Cannery’s live-music venues
Number of Rooms: 201
Overview:
Located a 20-minute drive (when traffic’s good) north of the Strip, the Cannery Casino Hotel may be a little too far removed from Vegas’ action to attract out-of-towners. That said, visitors who do wish to try their luck by booking a stay at the hotel will most likely not leave Sin City too disappointed. The Cannery’s a decent budget option which does its best to make guests’ stay as entertaining as possible.
Entertainment is the central attraction at this Greater Las Vegas resort. Indeed, adverts for the Cannery place more emphasis on their casino than on the hotel attached to it. Catering more for local gamblers than tourists, the gambling space of the Cannery Casino Hotel is impressively diverse, featuring a large collection of one-armed-bandits (from penny slots to more sophisticated machines), a wide range of table games, including frequent blackjack tournaments, as well as bingo and a sports book.
Non-gamblers won’t be left bored by the Cannery Casino Hotel, which includes Galaxy Theatres’ Cannery Cinema, a multiplex boasting the largest screen in Vegas. Guests interested in a more social stay can check out one of the Cannery’s six bars and live-music venues. Admittedly, the performers don’t tend to be household names (unless your household is located in Vegas) – tribute bands and local musicians predominate.
Like its shows, the Cannery’s dining options are distinctly second-tier. Sure, you won’t leave the Cannery Row Buffet or Waverly’s Steak House hungry, but your taste-buds will probably be far less satisfied.
The Cannery Casino Hotel’s rates are very affordable, though low prices add up to nondescript rooms with little luxuries beyond an LCD TV. Certainly, the resort’s casino and various entertainment options are impressive, but you don’t need to stay all the way north of the Strip to enjoy them.
