The entertainment extravaganza that is the Sin City show has become as synonymous with Vegas as the city’s world-famous casinos and poker rooms. From the Rat Pack and Elvis during the 1960s to, more recently, magicians Penn & Teller and the the flamboyant spectacles of Cirque du Soleil, Nevada’s biggest city has for decades offered visitors some of the best entertainment on the planet.
The glory of the Sin City show continues to this day, and there are almost too many to choose from. To make your visit a little easier, we take a look at the three best Vegas shows.
#3 Blue Man Group at the Monte Carlo Las Vegas
Anyone who’s a fan of the TV show Arrested Development will recall the episode when Tobias paints himself blue and tries to join the Blue Man Group. If you’re not familiar with the sit-com, then this eccentric, high-tech musical extravaganza will need an introduction.
Resident at the Monte Carlo Las Vegas Resort on the Strip, the – yes, you guessed it! – blue-painted performers drum and play multiple instruments while backed by one of the most sophisticated sound-and-light shows in all of Vegas. If you’re feeling down when you sit down in the Monte Carlo, we guarantee that you’ve lost your emotional blues after you’ve checked out the Blue Man Group.

#2 Absinthe at Caesars Palace
Given the number of Cirque du Soleil spectaculars in Las Vegas, you’d be forgiven for thinking that all of the best circus shows in Sin City are part of the Montreal-based troupe. While Absinthe does have one link to the Cirque – it’s hosted by Voki Kalfayan, a former clown from the company – that’s the only connection. However, Absinthe, a production from the Spiegelworld circus company, is easily as impressive as many of the best Cirque productions.
Based at Caesars Palace, Absinthe combines the imagination of Cirque but spices it up with a liberal seasoning of erotica. The show has received rave reviews from the New York Times and the Huffington Post, who said, “If you see one show in your entire life, make it Absinthe.”
So fix yourself a shot of absinthe, slam it and enjoy this trailer:
#1 Cirque du Soleil’s “Zarkana” at the Aria Resort
The world’s most famous circus company’s Michael Jackson: One , which debuted at the Mandalay Bay Resort in May, may be a newer show, but personally we prefer Cirque’s Zarkana, which is based at the Aria Resort on the Strip. A surreal and magical spectacle based around the story of a magician who’s lost – but soon regains – the ability to conjure and perform magic, Zarkana needs to be seen to be believed.
But don’t take our word for it: seeing is believing, after all! Check out this footage of Cirque’s Zarkana.
